| | | PRESIDENT'S Together we must save the house of the Emperor at St. Helena. If I dared to use such strong terms, I would say that this letter is a call for general mobilization of all the friends of the national heritage in general and Napoleon in particular. Indeed, there is danger in delay, and not any: that of Napoleon's final exile on St. Helena. Part of the house of Longwood is in danger because of passing time and the climate which is abhorrent in this part of the island. As you know, for several years the Foundation helps Domains French Napoleon to St. Helena and collaborates on many points with the authorities, that is to say the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The department decided that major works should be undertaken and that it was time to invest in this place of remembrance. This strong will and sincere faces difficulties State budget and that is why he asked Fondation Napoleon to unite those who wish to lend their support to this essential work. Therefore, with our colleagues in the Napoleonic Remembrance, we appeal today to all those who wish to perpetuate this piece of France to the other side of the world. We present this project that appeals to your generosity. We all know that times are tough and wallets in the process of flattening. But perhaps the game worth the candle for this project which could not be more Napoleonic, and especially vital for the future House of the Emperor. Perhaps also the effort will he compensated at least partially, by the tax benefits that allow donations to a foundation of public utility like ours. The file below will allow you to learn more about the why, how and how much. I sincerely hope that this call and the echo that you give will help us achieve this great project, and together we save the house of the Emperor at St. Helena. Thanks in advance for your help and your mobilization. Victor Andre Massena, Prince of Essling Foundation President Napoleon |

THE CAMPAIGN TO SAVE HOUSE LONGWOOD
Most of You Will have noticed on napoleon.org and in the special letter sent out last week to our French-language readers that the campaign to save Longwood House on Saint Helena has now been launched. With contributions already coming in, there have been a number of questions regarding how to make donations if you are based outside of France. The practical details of the international side of the campaign are being finalised as we speak.
In order that donors who do not pay tax in France may benefit from the tax breaks available in their country, we have to receive authorisation from foreign foundations. This authorisation is obtained through the Fondation de France, which has been given the job of securing this agreement with the countries concerned. This stage of the process should be complete between now and the end of January, and as soon as this authorisation has been received, we shall of course give our Francophone and Anglophone friends based outside French territory a "heads-up".
For those looking to make a donation via bank transfer, the Fondation Napoléon's bank details can be obtained by contacting Pierre Branda, either by post (the Fondation Napoléon's address can be found on the website) or by email ( branda@napoleon.org ).
This fund-raising call goes out to Napoleonic historians and enthusiasts, and national and historical heritage lovers alike: we need you.
